The only person in the entire show that is ignorant of what is really happening, is Truman, who was born into that surreal world and knows no other existence. Everyone else, including the audience, is in on the ruse.
Eventually he works it all out and sails across the fake sea to the edge of the dome, where he finds a stage door that leads him out of the show into the real world. When he does that, TV audiences, so long besotted with his false life, watch enthralled until he leaves - then they switch to another channel, a cynical statement about how we all live out our own illusions in our own little worlds, switching channels to move to the next big thing without any regard for the greater reality of life or our answerability to the great God above us all.
I fear that our lives are slipping through our fingers because we go from world cup to world cup, from Wimbledon to the tri-nations, from the Tour-de-France to the Masters, from Idols to America's got Talent .... and as we sit through each episode enthralled until it is over, we become the Trumans of a world that is being manipulated by the producers of a coming world crisis ... they are not God or gods, but would act as gods, to rob all humanity of its dignity whilst reducing us to puppets on their strings.
Get real ... this is not a game or a TV show and the True Man is not the falsehood we have contrived, but that soul who fears God and listens to His voice. We are answerable to God and the world is headed down the toilet. It is time to face our realities and live with a sense of accountability - for ourselves, our families, our communities and our world. We are the world and it is up to us to steward that heritage.
