Taking the kingdom part 4 - Ruth, Kingmaker

Another courageous heart: Ruth was not a Jew, but she knew that their culture offered more than what she left behind.

She refused to turn back too, but once in Bethlehem she paid the cost of her decision by gleaning the leftovers of the harvest.

Then she grasped that she had conjugal rights that were blind to her past or her roots: as blind as God’s grace is to our history.

She pressed her rights by uncovering Boaz’s feet.

He was a good man and knew what it meant. The nearest relative of her dead husband had to marry her, redeem her and give her children.

The nearest, her husband’s younger brother had died, so it fell to his uncle’s eldest son, but he declined, which freed Boaz to honor her.

I believe Boaz had reciprocal challenges, so the exchange healed them both, but out of that union arose Israel’s greatest king: David.

If their God’s law held then, how much more will your Kinsman-Redeemer honor the claims we make on all he did for us. Go and uncover his feet.
