Breakthrough series 8: I can see clearly now

Hebrews 4 says that without faith we won't “see it”.

We are often in a duel of wits that expects God to first prove himself. He rarely does.

In so doing we are kind of asking for “something on the side”. But God simply points to what he has already provided.

He won’t do more, a tough idea that I have wrestled with. Yet he won’t budge. He did enough. It is done. It is ours. And it is under oath.

Now it is our move. A legal precedent reduced many laws to one binary equation: “He who has the son has life and he who doesn’t, doesn’t”. That devolves to an even simpler, “what did you do with my son?”

So, back to first principles. All you need for life and godliness is in him, which will be veiled by unbelief until you dare to invoke it through faith.

Faith is a legal instrument: a signature to the covenant that uses faith in his word to defend our legal prerogatives before his court.

If a lawyer can argue from written law and legal precedents, we can argue from God’s words and the overriding precedents of the cross.

Precedence means that every factor that once defined my life, is now subsumed by one factor – the cross and what I make of it.
