Birthing wind series 4: Aim higher

A team played a B side in its last fixture, sacrificing accolades that were surely theirs, for a greater prize.

Winning that match, was academic "wind". Winning the next, a quarter final, was imperative "straw".

An award-winning Coke ad was withdrawn because Coke felt they were not in the entertainment industry. They needed to sell cokes.

Holiday Inns thought they sold "bed-nights", until they realized that anyone could do that. Advantage lay in offering an experience.

We will have windy pregnancies, if the more obvious blinds us to what counts more. It’s no use winning battles, to lose a war.

These issues are all around us. The idea that a church has arrived if it has a building, music and a preacher, is a case in point.

Others strive for symbols that are costly to sustain, when a house is only for living and a car is a poor investment, but a full life in God is priceless.

Why buy a hammer, when a thingy that drives nails is what you want? Is it because you have a hammer, so everything must be a nail?

Right now, America is hearing the last Trump, supposedly because the Donald is anti-abortion. But he is not pro-life. His unique abilities will abort the hopes, dreams and dignities of a generation.

Isaiah spoke of a phantom pregnancy, for the Jews of his time were the same. They chased vanities, but lost even that – a lesson that today’s Jews won't repeat, but we won't learn.
